A Memory Tribute to Joseph Anthony Zahn.
|
|
I was saddened when I heard of Joe's passing. I often think about him as I drive through Lancaster, Pa. as a Dodger scout. I remember he had a bag with the Roses emblem on it when we both played for the Nite Hawks. Joe not only was a great pitcher, but he took pride in his hitting and could always be counted on to do with the bat whatever the situation required. I am sure that is the same way he lived his life. My sympathy to the family and God Bless Joe's memory. |

I played against Joe once in my career. Went one for four at Birdland, a home run on sixth avenue. Joe was one of the most competetive people I knew. I remember when he anguished over quitting professional baseball to get a very good job in the public sector. You all are right. He will be missed. He left a mark on people's memories. |

My sincere sympathy to Joe's family. The obituary was very special and gave me more insight into the type of man he was. At our family reunions, he was always the fun-loving, up-beat guy. I always looked forward to seeing him. I know he is sorely missed; may your memories be comforting during this difficult time. Peace and love to you. |

I played ball with Joe at Simpson and later with the Nite Hawks; was a playing partner in the senior golf league. He was quite a "Joe." He will be remembered to me as a real competitor and a great friend. My thoughts and prayers are with Sharon and his family. He will be missed but not forgotten. |

I was just thinking recently that we should have another family reunion soon. I'm so sorry that we couldn't do that before Joe died. In reading the obituary (excellent writing), it seems he enjoyed a full, active life filled with lots of love. I am sad to lose my cousin and am offering sincere sympathy to his family.
