Wayne Sorenson, 95, of Des Moines, passed away on July 25, 2010 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center due to complications from a stroke.
Wayne served in the US Navy on the USS Harry Lee during WWII and worked for many years at Penn-Dixie Industries. He was a kind, helpful and sweet man and had a wonderful sense of humor.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Warner of Ankeny; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Wayne requested that there be no visitation or funeral, but a time of sharing memories will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 31 in the Atrium at Calvin Community, 4210 Hickman Road, where he resided.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Calvin Community Good Samaritan Fund.
