Cora Spencer, 100, passed away Monday, July 26, 2010 at Hospice Kavanagh House in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, at the First Christian Church in Adel. Graveside services will be held 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Maple Row Cemetery in Kellerton, Iowa.
Cora was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, dancing and cooking for family gatherings, especially those that ended playing pitch.
Cora is survived by her children, Betty Wicks of Adel, Delores (Richard) Keesey of Hannibal, MO, Melvin (Rose) Spencer and Arthur (Kim) Spencer both of Waukee, and Barbara Straley of Des Moines, 27 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and 31 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard, and her children, Raymond Dean Spencer, Don Spencer, and Kay Bannick and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Iles Funeral Homes-Brandt Chapel in Dallas Center.
Memorials may be made to the family for a memorial to be directed later.
